Phoenix Swim Club Pool to Be Officially Demolished; Developers Win Fight With City Council Vote
PHOENIX, Arizona. THE Phoenix City Council today approved a
measure to remove a special permit that will allow a housing developer
to demolish the storied Phoenix Swim Club pool and construct
single-family homes on the 10-acre lot.

Top Seven Stay Steady in CSCAA Women's Division I Poll; California Still On Top
PHOENIX, Arizona. AS was the case in the Division I men's poll,
the top spots in the College Swim Coaches Association of America's
women's swimming and diving poll remain unchanged. The top seven teams
keep their places heading into the midseason invitationals, with several
team slipping
due to inactivity in the past couple of weeks.

PHOENIX, Arizona. MINNESOTA and Purdue were the biggest
beneficiaries in the newest poll of Division I swimming and diving men's
teams from the College Swim Coaches Association of America. A few teams
on this week's list have used the past two weeks for training instead
of racing, in
anticipation of the upcoming midseason invitationals.
Paul Biedermann to retire in 2016
WUPPERTAL, Germany. AFTER not being in the pool for national
competition in half a year and sitting out the World Championships in
Barcelona in summer due to several injuries, Paul Biedermann made his
return to the pool this week at the German short course nationals.
However, he is not
going to start at the short course European Championships in Herning,
Denmark and instead focuses on the European Championships in Berlin,
Germany set for August 2014, with his long term goal being to finally
win an Olympic medal at the Games in Rio 2016. After that, he is going
to retire.
Darian Townsend Makes Masters Swimming Debut With Five Short Course Meters World Records
MESA, Arizona. DARIAN Townsend, an Olympic champion from the
2004 Games, competed in his first Masters swimming competition today
and made the most of it with five short course meters world records in
the 25-29 age group -- in a span of two hours.
Chinese Diver Zhong Wei Banned Three Months for Probenecid Positive Test

diver Zhong Wei has been banned for three months following a positive
test for Probenecid (Class S.5 Diuretics and Masking Agents).

Synchro Canada Looking for Chief Executive Officer
Synchro Canada is the national sport governing body for the
sport of synchronized swimming in Canada. It is governed by a national
volunteer board of directors, and is supported by staff in key business
areas and a number of committees. Synchronized swimming is one of
Canada's most
successful amateur sports, having medalled in most senior world
championships and most Olympic Games since 1984. Overall, Synchro is the
third best performing sport in Canada according to Sport Canada.

investigation into allegations of improper sexual relations by former
U.S. Olympic team coach Mitch Ivey by banning Ivey for life, according
