Jose Finkel Trophy: Cecilia Biagioli Sets Meet Record to Close Competition BELO HORIZONTE, Brazil. THE Jose Finkel Trophy competition came to a close with a meet record taking a tumble during the last finals session. USA Swimming Announces Pan-American Games Team COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado. Forty-eight swimmers will represent Team USA at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, from October 14-30, 2011. The U.S. swim team includes eight members of this summer's FINA World Championship roster and 10 swimmers from the 2011 World University Games team. The pool competition will take place October 15-21 and the 10K open water race will be held October 22 in nearby Puerto Vallarta. USA Swimming to Face off Against European All-Stars at Mutual of Omaha Duel in the Pool, Dec. 16-17 in Atlanta COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado. USA Swimming will host a battle between top U.S. swimmers and a team of European All-Stars at the fifth Mutual of Omaha Duel in the Pool December 16-17 in Atlanta. The competition will take place at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center. USA Swimming Executive Director Chuck Wielgus on Medical Leave Due to Cancer Surgery Complications COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado. ACCORDING to the East Bay Express, Oakland Undercurrent swim coach Ben Sheppard, who also served as a USA Swimming Diversity Specialist, has been fired from his position with USA Swimming and suspended by his swim club. Private Pools Contending With Disabilities Act Requirements ATLANTA, Georgia. AS evidenced by some reporting in Atlanta, some private pools are concerned with a new implementation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, many private pools that hold public swim meets from time to time are reconsidering the practice. USA Swimming Announces National Team; National Youth Team COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado. USA Swimming today announced the swimmers named to the 2011-2012 USA Swimming National Team. The roster features a total of 109 swimmers, including 2011 World Championships gold medalists Ryan Lochte (Daytona Beach, Fla.), Missy Franklin (Centennial, Colo.), Michael Phelps (Baltimore, Md.) and Elizabeth Beisel (Saunderstown, R.I.).
