This newsletter provides you with background information and news on FINA's activities and upcoming events.

CHAD LE CLOS (RSA) SHINES AGAIN IN SINGAPORE

South African Chad Le Clos and Hungary's Katinka Hosszu, the current leaders of the FINA Swimming World Cup 2013, continued their gold rush - each bagging five gold - at the sixth stop of the Series (and first of Cluster no.3), held in Singapore from November 5-6.

Le Clos has now 17 golds to his name for an overall tally of 25 medals while Hosszu maintains her "golden girl" status with 43 medals, 25 of them gold. Le Clos also registered the meet's top score (1015 points) with a record-breaking victory in the 200m fly (1:48.56). Alia Atkinson from Jamaica was the best performer among women with a swift 28.94 in the 50m breast (985 points). Among those producing fine performances in Singapore were:

Vladimir Morozov (RUS): 3 gold (50m and 100m free, 100m IM), 1 silver (100m breast) 
Daniel Gyurta (HUN): 2 gold (100m and 200m breast)
Robert Hurley (AUS): 1 gold (400m free), 2 silver (100m, 200m back), 1 bronze (200m free)
Eugene Godsoe (USA): 3 gold (50m, 100m and 200m back)
Thomas Fraser-Holmes (AUS): 1 gold (400m IM), 3 silver (200m free, 400m free, 200m IM)

Alia Atkinson (JAM): 2 gold (50m and 100m breast), 1 bronze (100m IM)
Lauren Boyle (NZL): 2 gold (400m and 800m free)
Cate Campbell (AUS): 2 gold (50m and 100m free)
Sarah Sjoestrom (SWE): 1 gold (50m fly), 1 silver (100m free), 2 bronze (200m free and 100m fly)
Emma McKeon (AUS): 1 gold (200m free), 2 bronze (100m free and 50m fly)

Local hope Tao Li picked up silver in the women's 50m butterfly, her seventh medal in the Series so far. A record 281 swimmers (162 men and 119 women) took part in the Singapore leg. Singapore hosted the World Cup for the seventh time.

Water Polo World Leagues kick off this month in Europe

The 2014 season of the FINA Men's Water Polo World League will kick off on November 12, 2013 with the first round of home-and-away games in Europe.

Group A's Russia will receive Romania in Chekhov. Group B's Hungary and Greece will face each other on Hungarian soil in Miskolc. Group C's Italy will visit Germany in Berlin while Montenegro will play Slovakia at home in Budva.

In the Women's World League, the first round of European matches will be played on November 19, 2013. Group A's Russia will receive Spain in Chelyabinsk while Group B's Greece and Italy will place in Athens.

Artistry on display at Synchro World Trophy in Mexico

IN THE SPOTLIGHT

The 8th edition of the FINA Synchronised Swimming World Trophy, an original event that allows the use of accessories, will be organised in Mexico City (MEX) November 29 to December 1, 2013.

Teams from the world's top-12 will fight for top honours in Mexico, which hosts the competition for the second time, being a solid nation in the sport.

On the programme: Synchro Highlight, Thematic Duet, Free Team and Free Combination. The event will also feature a Solo exhibition, which will not be judged.

Synchro Worldwide Seminar concludes in St-Petersburg

The FINA Synchronised Swimming Worldwide Seminar 2013 successfully concluded in St-Petersburg, Russia, on November 3. A total 161 synchro judges and coaches representing 55 nations attended the event.

One of the seminar's main objective was to review and explain the new rules in synchronised swimming to the synchro judges and coaches. An examination for A Judges also took part at the end of the seminar.
