| | Edition of 22/07/2011 | | 16TH JULY 2011: THE 14TH FINA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN SHANGHAI HAVE STARTED! | The 14th World Championships have been officially inaugurated with the opening of the Shanghai City Planning Exhibition Centre in which all competitions will be held from 16th to 31st July. Swimming competitions, synchronized swimming, water polo and diving are held in the Oriental Sport Centre in the Pudong Area of Shanghai whilst the open water swimming competitions are scheduled at Jinshan City Beach.
The FINA Organization Committee has communicated the new record of 181 participants. The old record of 172 was reached in 2009 with the Championships held in Rome. The athletes are approximately 2.200 for 68 finals scheduled : 40 swimming competitions, 10 diving, 7 synchronized swimming, 7 open water competitions and 4 water polo.
Myrtha Pools is attending as both FINA partner and as supplier of two temporary pools installed within the Oriental Sport Centre in less than 20 days. Two swimming pools have been completed in Myrtha Technology: a m 50x25x3 pool for waterpolo and synchronized swimming competitions and a m 50x25x2h for warm-up.
The Myrtha Technology has become the preferred choice for Great Sports Events worldwide due to the self supporting structure (peculiar aspect also in permanent contexts). In fact it guarantees the millimetric accuracy necessary for international competitions and the adaptability required in temporary frameworks.
This year Myrtha Pools celebrates its 50th anniversary of business and the World Championships in Shanghai are a good occasion to be proud of the realization of important projects and new technical innovation.
