Myrtha Pools and NYAD: Swim for Relief - NYC
Myrtha Pools is proud to supply the swimming pool for the NYAD48 event being held in Herald Square NYC on October 8-10, 2013,Diana Nyad, who just recently completed her record setting open water swim from Cuba to Key West, will swim for 48 consecutive hours to raise money for Hurricane Sandy victims through the American Red Cross.
On October 8-10, 2013, Diana Nyad will swim again, this time with no jellyfish or sharks but in a Myrtha Pools with a Neptune-Benson filtration system. Diana Nyad will swim for 48 consecutive hours to raise money for a great cause. Myrtha has specially designed a pool for the event, being built in New York City’s Herald Square just outside of Macy’s .
Myrtha Pools has teamed up on several occasions for special events such as this with Spear Corporation, an Indiana based pool design, installation and Service Company; Sunbelt Pools, a Texas based commercial pool construction company; and Neptune Benson, a Rhode Island based pool filtration manufacturer.
Myrtha Pools, together with this team, have previously installed two Olympic sized pools in Omaha, NE at the Century Link Center for the 2012 US Olympic Swimming Team Trials in just 10 days. This is an Olympic fete in itself; however, this pool must be erected in the middle one of the busiest cities in the U.S. and ready for Diana to enter the pool in less than 24 hours. There are many victims that need help after suffering the devastation that Super storm Sandy left in her wake. The hope is to raise awareness and money for these victims to help them to resume their lives the way they were before this storm hit. This 48 hour swim will not only have Diana Nyad swimming but others donating for the opportunity to swim a few laps with Diana Nyad. “We are pleased to provide the aquatic filter for such a worthy cause, we hope everyone will tune in or visit the event and donate to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy- there is still so much work to be done.”

Looking at the position of their lead forearm and hand, notice how similar they all are and how uncomplicated the position is. The elbow is just above the wrist and the wrist above the fingertips:


Notice also the depth of their arm and hand. The arm isn't right up at the surface as many swimmers believe it should be, it's actually quite deep around 30-40cm (12-16"). Trying to catch the water near the surface shows the palm forwards and drops the elbow, really damaging the catch. We call this position "putting on the brakes" as it not only harms the catch but kills stroke rhythm too.

The next time you swim, picture the position and depth of our elite swimmers' lead arm and feel the extra propulsion and rhythm you gain in your stroke.

Despre seminarul lui Bob ....

Eu sunt, adica am fost, foarte incantat de venirea elitei inotului mondial si american, pe aici, prin Orient, respectiv la Istanbul ....

 Am incercat de cateva ori sa aflu amanunte si chiar sa facem un 'echipaj' sa participam si noi acolo.....

 N-o fost sa fie..., tarziu, mai intrai, am aflat ca participarea la 3 zile de seminar costa 100 dolari si banii trebuia sa fie deja acolo cand am aflat asta ...

 Apoi cateva crimpee, obtinute cu greutate dar cu promisiunea de a mi se oferi lucrarile susutinute de Bob; sper ca asa va fi...

 Pana atunci iata, in limba turca, pe care o stapanesc precum vorbea si 'tarzan' engleza....:

Yüzme sporunun gelmiş geçmiş en büyük atletini yetiştirmiş bu büyük spor adamının elini sıkmak da bizim için unutulmaz bir andı. 
Inotul a devenit unul dintre cele mai marcante activitati contemporane a spus BB.....
Bay Bowman'a konuşmasından sonra oldukça önemli sorular yöneltildi.

Bize göre şu iki soru dikkat çekiciydi: 

1. Bizim ne zaman Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, Rebecca Soni gibi yıldız yüzücülerimiz olacak? Bize bir tarih verebilir misiniz? 
1. Cand credeti ca si noi vom putea avea inotatori ca M.Phelps...; puteti sa ne faceti un pronostic..?
2. 14 yaşında bir bayan yüzücü, kendisine kulübünde haftada beş gün sabah akşam antreman yaptırıldığını,kendisinden büyük 18-20 yaşlarındaki yüzücülerle aynı antremanları yaptığını bunun doğru olup olmadığını sordu. 
2.  la noi o fata de 14 ani, face in cadrul clubului, saptamanal 5 zile cu cate 2 antrenamente impreuna cu alti inotatori dar de varste de 18-20 de ani si intreb daca asa ceva este corect ?
1. soruya Bay Bowman 2020 müjdesini verdi..... 
La prima intrebare BB a prognozat anul 2020...[cred ca a fost un raspuns diplomatic/ M.Olaru]
2. soruya ise, antremanın fiziksel bir mesele olduğunu, fiziksel olarak uygunsan yapabilirsin dedi ve bu bayan yüzücünün bu antremanları kaldırabilecek bir görünümde olduğunu ve devam etmesi gerektiğini ifade etti. 
La a 2-a intrebare a comentat ca daca din punct de vedere fizic fata poate sa lucreze alaturi de cei mai mari, asta este un lucru bun...
Bowman, eğitim konusunda ise eğitimin çok önemli olduğunu ama sporun da eğitim kadar önemli olduğunu anlamamız gerektiğini, iyi bir sporcunun aynı zamanda iyi bir öğrenci olabileceğini söyledi. 
BB a accentuat importanta pregatirii scolare si alaturi de ea si importanta pregatirii sportive.
Bu görüş tabiiki doğru fakat sayın Bowman'ın ülkemiz eğitim sistemini yakından incelemesini ondan sonra bu konu ile ilgili bir kez daha yorum yapmasını arzu ederiz. 
Comentariu unui turc: Dl. BB insa nu stie conditiile scolare de la noi unde un sportiv are putin timp de a face antrenament...
Bay Bowman, Sporcunun-velinin antrenöre güvenmesi gerektiğini, eğer güvenmiyorsa antrenörün derhal değiştirilmesinin uygun olduğunu ifade etti. 
BB a cometat ca sportivul si parintii acestuia trebuie sa aibe incredere in antrenor si daca acest lucru nu se intampla relatia trebuie schimbata...
Sanırız kulüp veya antrenör değiştirmek A.B.D.'de bir hayli kolay.
Se stie ca schimbarea unui club sau antrenor in America este ceva f. usor de realizat...
 Ne yazık ki ülkemizde bunu hayata geçirebilmek o kadar kolay değil. 
Din pacate acest lucru este mai putin posibil la noi in Turcia....
Bu konuşmanın hemen ardından gelen sorularda bir veli, çocuğunu yıllardır yüzme antremanlarına götürdüğünü bu süre zarfında antrenörü sadece üç kez görebildiğini, bir görüşmede de çocuğunun yüzme sporundaki geleceği ile ilgili sorduğu bir soruya antrenörün 15 yaşına gelmeden hiçbir yorumun yapılamayacağını yüzme sporunun 15 yaşında başladığını söylediğini ifade etti. 
Dupa aceasta discutie, un parinte de copil incepator a intrebat daca este normal ca antrenroul sa nu-i vorbeasca mai deloc si cand totusi asta s=a intamplat, la intrebarea daca este un viitor pentru fiul sau, antrenorul i-a raspuns:"vom vorbi asta dupa varsta de 15 ani".....
Michael Phelps'i 15 yaşında olimpiyatlara göndermiş bir antrenör olarak Bob Bowman bu soruya ne yazık ki doyurucu bir cevap veremedi. 
La intrebarea cum a reusit sa-l prezinte pe MP la 15 ani in concursul olimpic.., BB nu a putut raspunde.

Bob Bowman'ın gördüğü yakın ilgi ve Türk misafirperverliği karşısında hiç kimseyi rencide etmek istememe gibi bir görüntüsü vardı. Sonuç olarak, Bob Bowman'ın oldukça iyi bir uzman olduğu kesin ama ülkemizde gerçekten önemli işler yapmak istiyorsa bu ülkeyi daha yakından tanıması, Amerika Birleşik Devletleri ile Türkiye'nin spora bakış açılarının oldukça farklı olduğunu anlaması gerekli...
