Chocolate Milk Could Give Swimmers Performance Edge
Grabbing chocolate milk after a hard swim could give
swimmers a performance edge, according to new research presented at one
of the
nation’s top sports medicine conferences – the American College of
Sports Medicine’s annual conference. Indiana University
researchers found that when training, collegiate swimmers who recovered
with reduced fat chocolate milk after an exhaustive swim, swam faster in
time
trials later that same day. Learn more about the study here.

Deck Pass Teams Up with TrueSport
USA Swimming’s official mobile application, Deck Pass, has teamed up with
TrueSport – a division of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency – in an effort to educate
youth swimmers on how to win the right way. This partnership is designed to help Deck Pass users succeed both in and out of the water.

There have been a few rumors floating around about swimming. Things
like, "I don't have access to a pool," or "Swimming is too expensive." Even things like, "It's too
difficult to learn." Well, our research and history show a different story to these.
- 82% of parents with kids who know how to swim say they
have access to a pool within a 10-minute drive
- 63% of households with an income lower than $50,000 said they have access to "a pool
nearby."
- 76% of parents said that learning to swim was easy!

Fantasy Camp - Youth
Join
Olympic gold medalists Anthony Ervin and Mel Stewart, along with
Olympic coach David Marsh, at the 2014 USA Swimming Foundation’s Fantasy
Camp – Youth! The camp runs from Oct. 9-12 at the U.S. Olympic
Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Fantasy Camp is open to youth ages 12-17, and campers will have the
opportunity to live, eat and train like a National Team athlete.
