£20 million to boost sports facilities

£20 million to boost sports facilities

Community sports facilities are set to receive a welcome boost with £20 million of National Lottery funding.
Investment is available for sports clubs, local authorities, schools and parish councils to help fix facilities that can be unattractive, expensive to run and difficult to maintain, and to convert existing buildings into venues that are suitable for grassroots sport.
Sport England's Inspired Facilities fund has already helped over 1,300 projects to improve and refurbish sports clubs or transform non-sporting venues into modern grassroots sport facilities. So whether you are a swim school, club, local authority, school or parish council you could have help to improve your facilities.

The Rookie Lifeguard Award developed by the Royal Lifesaving Society and the ASA can give budding lifeguards a headstart.
As well as offering parents the comfort of knowing their children are aware the dangers of swimming in open water, you can also ensure children have a solid safety education, and learn rescue and resuscitation techniques.
To deliver Rookie Lifesaving, Level 2 teachers must have the RLSS Rookie Instructor Qualification.
