Japan Announces Olympic Team of 27 Swimmers
TOKYO, Japan. WITH seven days of the Japanese Olympic Trials coming to the end, the following Olympic team roster was introduced right after the final race of the day. The national team members were selected by Japan's own qualifying standard with no exception. These 27 members broke the standard and made the team including relay members. Out of this team roster, the final decision on which events each swimmer would be competing in London will be decided later. For example, Takuro Fujii did not qualify for an individual event, making the team only for the men's 400m medley relay. But he may swim 100m butterfly in London if team director and head national coach decide so.

FINA Announces Doha, Qatar as Host of 2014 World Short Course Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana. THE USA Swimming Grand Prix in Indianapolis came to a close with some scintillating swims throughout the final night, including a blastoff in the 200 IM from superstar Michael Phelps.
Purdue Invitational: Martin Grodzki Enters Long Course Season After Setting 1650 Free NCAA Record
WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana. NEWLY-minted NCAA record holder Martin Grodzki of Georgia checked in with a 15:27.27 to win the men's 1500 free at the Purdue Invitational, which served as the overflow meet this week for the overbooked USA Swimming Grand Prix held in Indianapolis.
Montenegro Wins Men's Water Polo Olympic Games Qualification Tournament
LAUSANNE, Switzerland. GREECE, Montenegro, Romania and Spain were the four qualified teams for the 2012 Olympic Games earning their "tickets" at the Men's Water Polo Qualification Tournament held in Edmonton (CAN), from April 1-8. Montenegro won the competition by beating Spain 12-9 in the final match, while Greece got the bronze, triumphing over Romania by 14-10.
Joseph Locke To Try, Try Again
GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE, San Francisco. "THROUGHOUT the swim, I was calculating how much time I have, before I blank out. [As I was approaching the Farallon Islands], I could see the rocks but I was hurting, said Joseph Locke. "My arms or shoulders didn't hurt, it was just the cold. As soon as I jumped in, I knew it was cold and I knew it was going to be a difficult swim."
